Hey there beer lovers! It’s me, your friendly neighborhood Bruguru, chilling with a beer and a few of my Han Brolos and…wait what? You don’t know Han Brolo? Han Brolo can be anybody, really. Han Brolo is a slang term for your “bro”, or good friend, or droogies as the case may be. Anyway, the beer I’m enjoying with my Han Brolos is none other than Han Brolo Pale Ale from Atlanta’s Monday Night brewery.
Is Han Brolo Pale Ale a New England-style pale ale? It could well be, if you believe in such things. The beer is hazy and juicy fruity just like those hazy and juicy fruity New England Pale Ales. I found Monday Night Han Brolo on tap at my local Taco Mac and ordered one post haste.
From the brewery website:
Brewed with lactose sugar, this unfiltered pale has a chewy malt backbone with explosions of hops, resulting in a stratospheric experience.
A juicy, hazy pale ale. Unfiltered and flavorful, Han Brolo has a full-bodied, chewy mouthfeel. A huge dry hop gives this beer notes of tangerine and grapefruit. A lactose addition during brewing adds silkiness.
Ingredients, also from the website:
Hops Simcoe, Mosaic, Mandarina Bavaria
Grain Bill Munich, Flaked wheat, Carapils, Acidulated
Monday Night Han Brolo Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 4.7% by volume. I paid $6.25 for a 23-ounce mug at Taco Mac and it runs $9.49 a six at Target.
Monday Night Han Brolo Pale Ale pours to a hazy orange white color with a big fruity nose of citrus and tropical fruit. Taking a sip, the beer has an appropriate maltiness and body for a pale ale with citrus orange, grapefruit zest, pineapples, passion fruit, and a dry grassy bitter finish.
I love it! I think this “style” might work better as a pale ale than as an IPA. Either way, I enjoy them both, but I’ll surely be back for more of this one, folks. Extra credit for the lightsabers on the cans.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
