Hey Taco Mac! I’m calling you butter: because you’re on a roll! Why, I coudn’t contain my excitement about Jack’s Abby beers now on tap (just enjoyed a Post Shift Pilsner), and now you got Melvin beers, too! So of course I ordered up a Melvin IPA! Yes of course I did! I have had a few Melvin beers over the years (not this one though), and always in cans. This was my first time enjoying a Melvin beer on tap.

Melvin, of Jackson Wyoming, says about this beer:

You can’t always get what you want.…. but sometimes you get lucky. It’s all about the right hops, at the right time. This is how Melvin Grew Up. Fruity, Intense, but not bitter like the rest of them. As long as you don’t take advantage, we think this is the hoppiest relationship you could ask for…hold my hand?

I guess I got lucky! Melvin IPA has an alcohol content of 7.5% by volume with 80 IBUs. I paid $8.94 for a 23-ounce mug at Taco Mac, and it sells for $14.49 a 6-pack at Total Wine, though I have yet to see it here in Georgia that way.

My mug of Melvin IPA arrived a beautiful golden orange color with a fluffy medium-sized white head and citrusy tangerine and grapefruit in the nose. Taking a sip, I got light to medium malt, orange jello, more tangerine and grapefruit, bitter citrus rind, a hint of resin, and a long dry bitter finish.

I just love the citrus here but would like more malt to be honest. Absolutely I would drink it again though. I did find it a bit more bitter than the brewery describes it but hey, I like bitter. A lot. Tonight, I eschewed my customary wings for a veggie quesadilla, and Melvin IPA washed them down quite nicely.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
