Galactic Vagabond Double IPA

Review Date 9/27/2024 By John Staradumsky

So, just the other day, I was enjoying a Lord Hobo Endless Vagabond, and remarking on how tasty it was. Untappd said I hadn’t had it before, but hadn’t I had some other Lord Hobo Vagabond before? I was quite sure that I had. Anyway, this morning I decided to put pen to paper (or, more accurately, keyboard to word) and review Endless Vagabond. But wait, hadn’t I had some other Lord Hobo Vagabond before? I searched my PC for a word document, and there it was: Lord Hobo Galactic Vagabond Double IPA.

I decided I had best review this beer first, since I had had it first, and it was about bloody time I finished what I started, as the aforementioned word document had naught but tasting notes upon it. So now I am here, and I am quite sure you’re all the happier for that.

Here’s what Lord Hobo says:

This intrepid vagabond is hopping through time and exploring history as it unfolds around them. Follow along on their journey as they traverse time and space. From a distant future in a galaxy far, far away, Galactic Vagabond has come to transport you to another dimension of flavor. This bold 9% Double Dry Hopped, Double IPA emits aromas of stone fruit and citrus while gliding over pillowy malts to explore juicy flavors of peach pineapple, nectarine, orange, and lemon. Venture into the unknown and explore the outer limits of your tastebuds.

Ingredients, from the website:

HOPS: Ella, Citra, Galaxy, Huell Melon, Amarillo

MALTS: Pilsner, Golden Oats, Flaked Oats

Lord Hobo Galactic Vagabond has an alcohol content of 9% by volume, but they already told you that. That makes it a sipping beer for sure. I paid $5.49 for my pint can from Half Time. Total Wine sells it for $8.99 for a 19.2 ounce can or $14.99 a 4-pack of pint cans, both at their Cherry Hill, New Jersey store. My sample was stamped CANNED ON 04/13/23, and I drank it on May 21st of 2023.

Lord Hobo Galactic Vagabond Double IPA pours to a hazy orange amber color with a medium head of foam and a vibrant juicy citrus nose. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, about right as these beers go these days. It’s super citrus juicy, with grapefruit and orange and tropical pineapple and mango. Finishes slightly sweet and I would like more bitterness, but it is boozy and the alcohol helps attenuate.

I really like the minty herbal hops and grapefruit zest here, and that means I would definitely buy this beer again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
