My
name is John, and I am a Labatt lover.
"Hey!" you say, " You're a beer geek! You're supposed to hate big
breweries!"
Not me. I love all beer. Beer and I are a happy family. Labatt's Blue was a
beer I drank in my dawning beer appreciation days. Perhaps part of my
fondness for the brew is nostalgia on my part, but I really do enjoy the
brew. It's tasty, crisp, and refreshing, especially on an extremely hot
August night like tonight. This is not imperial stout weather folks.
As I pour this pale golden colored beer into my cobalt blue Labatt's beer
glass a large white head of foam forms atop the brew. The nose is very
malty, and that's about all that's going on. The palate is fairly clean,
there's a refreshing crisp malt body to this beer that I find very
enjoyable. Indeed, I enjoyed it many moons ago before I knew what a crisp
malt body was. The finish is balanced to slightly sweet. The label styles
this as a pilsner (Canadian Pilsner), it might better be termed Canadian
Helles.
I recommend Labatt Blue with just about any cuisine, but it's especially
good with back bacon or donuts. Goes well with hockey games or Blue Jay's
baseball too. Now take off, eh?
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
