Kuhnhenn Imperial Crème Brûlée Java Stout

6000! That’s a nice round number, isn’t it? I just hit 6000 unique beer check-ins on Untappd, and the beer I used to do that was Kuhnhenn Imperial Crème Brûlée Java Stout. I’m not sure why humans are so fascinated with such numbers; why is 6000 more special than 4242? I’m sure I don’t know.

Anyway, I am approaching 10,000 total check ins, another nice round number, and my spreadsheet tells me that I have many more than 6000 unique beers tasted in my lifetime; it says I have 8065 at this point. To be sure, I am not a ticker, and while I love trying new beers, I am more about going back and enjoying old favorites, too, these days.

I had this Kuhnhenn beer for a while in my beer fridge and decided this was the right time to drink it. The brewery says:

Coffee. Chocolate. Caramel. Vanilla. You’re used to seeing a lot of these terms when describing stouts. These are not just descriptors; they are ingredients. “Java”; as we call it, has become a crowd favorite by perfectly balancing the sweet and the roast, thanks to the use of Creme Brule coffee. The aroma and flavor are a coffee, chocolate or dessert-lover’s dream in a glass.

Kuhnhenn Imperial Crème Brûlée Java Stout has an alcohol content of 8.5% and I paid $3.99 for my can from Half Time. Not bad at all considering it goes for $4 for a 3-ounce sample at the brewery. You can get a 14-ounce glass for $8 or fill a 64-ounce growler for $25. Total Wine sells this beer for $9.99 a 4-pack in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My can is stamped on the bottom PKG 01/10/25. I drank it with a year and 3 months age on it, and I can say it aged well.

Kuhnhenn Imperial Crème Brûlée Java Stout pours to a jet-black color with a respectable sized tan head and a nose of dark roast and burnt caramel. Taking a sip the beer is medium to full in body, dark roasty, underlined with burnt caramel and toffee notes. It’s creamy too, and flan-like to a degree with caramel, then followed by coffee and chocolate. Finishes roasty and dry and delicious.

This beer bursts with bursts with caramelized sugar notes, and I love that. I would gladly drink another…or maybe 6000.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
