'Merica Y'All Hazy IPA
Review Date 3/17/2025 By John Staradumsky
I was at Taco Mac, and I was hungry. But what to order? Taco Mac recently drastically revised their menu, which I found alarming, especially since in the process they dispensed with my beloved Sweet Chili Sesame wings. Not to worry! They replaced them with Sweet Sesame Ginger wings, and I decided to give those a try.
One of the reasons I loved the Sweet Chili Sesame Wings so much was that they were something akin to what we called “sticky wings” back in Rhode Island. Every Chinese restaurant had them, and they were wings smothered in a sweet and sticky dark oyster sauce concoction. When I say smothered, I means smothered, too. The bottom of the container, once you ate the wings and reached it, almost always had at least a half inch to an inch of sauce still in it.
My Sweet Chili Sesame wings were somewhat reminiscent of those, too, slightly sweet and popping with ginger and sesame and sprinkled with diced scallions as they were. Now at this point I am sure you are thinking, “We’re here to read about beer!” or perhaps “Aren’t you supposed to be the brew guru, not the wing guru?”, and you would be right to do so. That said, wings pair wonderfully with beer, and my Sweet Sesame Ginger Wings at Taco mac were delightful with a draft mug of ‘Merica Y’All Hazy IPA from Prairie.
Prairie calls ‘Merica Y’All a Hazy IPA with Nelson Sauvin hops. It has an alcohol content of 6% by volume and it was a perfect quaffing beer with my wings. I paid $8.73 for a 23-ounce pour. I have not seen this in cans here in Georgia, but Total Wine sells it for $11.99 a 4-pack of 12-ounce cans in Overland Park, Kansas. That’s a couple cans short of a six-pack in more ways than one.
My mug of Prairie ‘Merica Y’all Hazy IPA arrived a hazy yellow color with a moderate head of foam and a grapefruit zest in the nose. Taking a sip the beer was medium in body, more grapefruity with pith and peel in the palate and some lemon too. Av dry bitter finish made this quaffable and a perfect match for my wings.
A beer I enjoyed and would definitely buy again, although I really do think this should come in six-packs for twelve bucks. Half star demerit for the two missing cans.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
