Oberon Eclipse Citrus Wheat

My DBRs (Dedicated Beer Refrigerators) are like boxes of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. I have three of them actually, one in my bedroom, one in my hallway, and one in my office. I used to have a full-sized beer fridge in the garage, but it gave up the ghost constantly struggling against the brutal Georgia summer heat. Hey. I tried.

Anyway, I was at Taco Mac a few weeks ago and enjoyed a 23-ounce mug of Bell’s Oberon Eclipse Raspberry Wheat . This made me think. I knew well that I had had Bell’s Oberon Ale in the past, a refreshing American wheal.  Had there not, however, been another Oberone Ale released between that one and this one? There had, in fact, Bell’s Oberon Eclipse Citrus Wheat. A quick check of Untappd, though, showed I had never had this one. How could I let this occur? Inconceivable!

That is where the beer fridge comes in. Sorting through the back of the hall DBR not long after my trip to Taco Mac, I found it! A can of Bell’s Oberon Eclipse Citrus Wheat! I could not be sure if this incident was pure coincidence (well, partial coincidence, since I had Oberon the brain, if you see what I did there) or proof of metaphysical solipsism. You decide. Unless the latter is true, in which case you cannot decide, because you do not exist, and vanish in a puff of logic as you read this. QED.

Bell’s says:

Oberon Eclipse Citrus Wheat from Bell’s Brewing is a refreshing, easy-drinking beer ….this fruit-forward Citrus Wheat Ale has the addition of orange peel and coriander. It’s an inviting beer with a clean finish.

Untappd styles this beer as American wheat, but I style it more as a witbier due to the addition of orange peel and coriander. The beer has an alcohol content of 6.3% by volume with 20 IBUs. I do not recall what I paid for it. My can is stamped 02MAR25 on the bottom, which I assume is the canning date.

Bell’s Oberon Eclipse Citrus Wheat pours to a hazy amber color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of tart wheat and bright citrus nose. Taking a sip, the beer is wheaty up front, then pops with citrus orange and finishes with a hint of dry coriander spice.

A tasty witbier, if not an exceptional one. 3.5.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
