Guinness Nitro Cold Brew Coffee

Review Date 6/1/2021   By John Staradumsky

Hello, old friend! Hello, new friend! Hello, Guinness Nitro Cold Brewed Coffee, a beer with coffee and natural coffee flavors, as Guinness tells it on the can. Guinness and I go way back; for Guinness, back to 1759 when the St. James Gate Brewery opened in Dublin. While I myself do not go back to 1759 (my kids might tell you otherwise), I have been drinking Guinness since the mid-eighties. So, hello old friend Guinness.

For most of the time I have been drinking Guinness, their family of beers has remained relatively stable. Things have changed in the beer world, however, and Guinness, recognizing that modern craft beer lovers are a fickle lot, has rolled with the times. They have built a new brewery in Baltimore, Maryland, and launched some new brews the likes of Guinness Nitro Cold Brewed Coffee. Hello, new friend Guinness!

Guinness says on their website:

Say hello to Guinness Nitro Cold Brew Coffee Beer. First the aroma of rich coffee hits you. Next, the magical surge of nitro releasing hints of espresso, chocolate and caramel. From the Brewers that invented Nitro beer, it might just become your new favorite part of the day. Please Drink Responsibly.

Guinness Nitro Cold Brewed Coffee has an alcohol content of 4% by volume and I paid $7.59 for a 4-pack of 14.9 ounce cans at Target. Total Wine sells it for just $6.99. This beer is brewed in Ireland at the original St. James Gate brewery.

Guinness Nitro Cold Brewed Coffee pours to a dark brownish black (but not opaque) color with a thick creamy tan head and a luscious cold brew coffee and caramel nose. Taking a sip, the beer is smooth and creamy in body and slides delightfully over the tongue. The classic bittersweet, gently sour Guinness flavor melds with cold brewed coffee grind notes and leads into a bitter roasty and coffee finish.

Guinness Nitro Cold Brewed Coffee is so easy to drink and so delicious! The low ABV makes this a perfect beer for sessioning, and at the price, you can afford to do that quite easily, too. Try it, won’t you? If you love beer and you love coffee, this one is sure to please.

And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
