Scentsation Double IPA

I’m getting to be a grumpy old man. Now, that might not be what you would think of as a good thing, but there is a silver lining to that cloud: Grumpy Old Men Brewing of Blue Ridge, Georgia might just be the perfect brewery for me. If you haven’t had their beer, let me tell you, it is Scentsational. Like, literally iin the case of their Scentsation Double IPA.

They say on their website:

Originally brewed as an alternative to our Grasshoppa Imperial IPA. Scentsation boasts a ton of citrus flavor and aroma, with not as much maltiness as the Hoppa.

Grumpy Old Men Scentsation Double IPA has an alcohol content of 8% by volume with 85 IBUs according to the website, though my can says 31. It tasted like 31. I paid $3.29 for a 12-ounce single at Total Wine where it was selling for $13.99 a six-pack at the time. My can had no freshness dating.

Grumpy Old Men Scentsation Double IPA  pours to a hazy orange amber color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of piney, grassy, minty hops. The nose truly was a scentsation. Taking a sip the beer is medium in body to slightly more, thick with caramel malt. It did not seem lighnter in body than the Grasshoppa to me. I get grassy minty hops, resiny pone, and grapefruit citrus rind all leading into a very bitter finish.

This was a tasty treat indeed. I will be looking for it again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
