Snowball's Chance is an interesting ale indeed. It's deep brown in color with a sweet malt nose that screamed "oktoberfest!" when I sniffed it. Not surprising, Munich malt is in here, along with chocolate, caramel, and a few others. It's a fairly substantial beer at 1.062 original gravity and 6% alcohol by volume, with moderate hopping of 30 IBU's to balance all that malt sweetness. And you do get a lot of sweetness here, rich, toasty and toffeeish with a dry but not exceptionally bitter finish. It's an ale, not a lager, but it has me thinking oom-pah-pah rather than sleighbells. Oktoberfest for Christmas, from Frederick Brewing!
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
