It’s a beautiful April Sunday afternoon here in Canton, and I’m out in my backyahd enjoying a beer and grilling up a storm. Ribs are on the menu today and…what’s that? You don’t know what a backyahd is? Why sure you do! You know, it’s behind your house, in your yahd. OK, so nobody down here calls it a backyahd, but I still do, and up in Rhode Island where Foolproof Backyahd India Pale Ale comes from, it’s what everybody calls it.
Foolproof is in Pawtucket, the city where I was born, and so although I make it a habit in the nice weather to grill in the backyahd while enjoying a beer, grilling in the backyahd with a Backyahd is particularly enjoyable. Backyahd is Foolproof’s flagship IPA, and a mighty good one at that.
From the can label:
Guaranteed to deliver an unspoken zen with a spatula in your
other hand...
The ultimate suburban brew, Backyahd is an aggressively hopped American IPA with a tantalizing hop aroma. The beer’s bitterness pairs perfectly with spicy foods coming straight off the grill. Enjoy it with friends, family, or whomever you choose. After all, it’s your Backyahd.
Foolproof Backyahd India Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 6% by volume and was running $9.99 a six-pack when I bought it in Rhode Island.
Foolproof Backyahd India Pale Ale pours to a hazy orange color with a thick creamy head formation and lush citrus and resin nose. I get some caramel malt up front to support the hops, then resin and grapefruit rind and a long dry bitter finish. This is an IPA that’s full of flavor and easy to drink at the same time, and wasn’t engineered to wallop you over the head. Rather, it’s perfect for everyday enjoyment. Preferably in your backyahd….
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
