I sure do love Fiddleheads beers! Yes I do! The wonderful IPA, then the double IPA, what is that one called? I was sure I couldn’t remember. I was browsing on Half Time’s website for some beers to buy and oh yeah, there it was. Fiddlehead Imperial IPA. And in stovepipe cans, too! I tossed one in my cart, of course.

Then it came time to drink it, and I went to check it in on Untappd. Hey wait! Untappd said I hadn’t had this beer before! What’s up with that? Indeed it was true, the beer I thought this was was actually Fiddlehead Second Fiddle Double IPA. Turns out, Fiddlehead has two Imperial/Double IPAs, which are really the same style folks, but hey, they’re a little different. Fiddlehead Imperial IPA has an alcohol content of 9% by volume for starters, as opposed to Second Fiddle’s 8.2% ABV.

Fiddlehead Imperial IPA was an insanely good deal at just $3.99 for the 19.2 ounce can. My can was packaged on 01/24/2024.

Fiddlehead Imperial IPA pours to a hazy orange amber color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of bright citrus and potent resiny pine. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, fuller than today’s examples of the style offer. It’s very juicy up front with a hint of tropical mango but more juicy citrus. All that segues into lush resiny pine and a lingering bitter finish.

I love it. Please sir, may I have some more?
