The Emerald Isle Brew Works, of West Warwick, RI, is well known among New England beer enthusiasts for their excellent cask-conditioned ales. One of those great brews is Emerald Isle Porter, a wonderful example of a robust porter. A perfect tan head sits atop this intriguing ebony brew. The nose is loaded with roasted malt. Sipping the brew yields wonderfully smooth and creamy roasted malt notes followed by a pronounced fruitiness and a perfectly balanced bitter hop finish. This is one hell of a beer, and one truly fine porter.
