Eggenberg Heller Bock
Review Date 9/4/2025 By John Staradumsky
Schloss Eggenberg has a collab beer! That’s right they do, and it’s with none other than New Hampshire’s wonderful Schilling brewery. I’ve never met a Schilling beer I didn’t like, and Eggenberg never fails to disappoint either, so when I saw Eggenberg Heller Bock offered at Half Time Beverage, of course I bought a bottle.
This is, of course, in the Maibock/Pale Bock/Heller Bock style. It is lighter in color but still carries quite the kick, and I enjoyed it while toasting the Beer Hunter Michael Jackson in observation of the 18th anniversary of his passing. Maibock was being tapped at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich in his episode The Fifth Element of The Beer Hunter series.
Eggenberg says on the back label:
Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Schilling Beer Co., a European-inspired craft brewery in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, this special Hellerbock is a tribute to the changing of the seasons.
Eggenberg Heller Bock has an alcohol content of 7.4% by volume and I paid $7.49 for my bottle from Half Time. Total Wine sells the beer for $4.99 again for a half liter bottle, which is the only way I have seen it sold. This is in their Richmond, VA store; my Total Wine locations here in Georgia do not seem to carry it.
Eggenberg Heller Bock pours to a pale golden color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of rich sweet rock candy maltiness. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body, just right for the style. It’s rich with slightly sweet bready and chewy toffee malts, a hint of cooked corn, a hint of caramel, and at the last a drying Grassy bitter finish where it is also warming with alcohol.
I would definitely drink this gem again.
Glad I tried it?

Would I rebuy it??
