Edmund's Oast Pales in Comparison Citra Hop Edition Pale Ale

Review Date 10/11/2021   By John Staradumsky

I picked up some crowlers at Stout’s here in Canton, and one of them was Edmund’s Oast Pales in Comparison Citra Hop Edition Pale Ale. You can drink Pales in Comparison many times and not drink the same beer twice, because this is a rotating hop selection pale ale. Just ask the brewery.

New hop varieties emerge so often, it’s hard to keep track. To help explore the kaleidoscopic Humulus lupulus flavor-sphere, we’ve concocted a soft, round pale ale, full of flaked wheat and a gentle disposition – the ideal palette to allow for full hop flavor
expression.

Don’t forget to check the bottom of the can for the current hop!

See what I mean? I visited Edmund’s Oast in Charleston a few years ago and immediately fell in love with the place. It was a little hard to find, but it was worth the hunt, and I am glad their beers are sold today here in Georgia.

Edmunds Oast Pales in Comparison Citra Hop Edition Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 5% by volume. I paid $10.50 for my crowler from Stout’s, and it sells for $12.99 for a 4-pack of pint cans at Total Wine.

Edmunds Oast Pales in Comparison Citra Hop Edition Pale Ale pours to a hazy dark orange color with a medium sized head of creamy foam and a nose of citrus and fresh cut flowers. Taking a sip, the beer is medium in body but appropriate to a pale ale, earthy, flowery and juicy with citrus notes.  There are strong notes of orange citrus peel and flesh and the beer finishes with a zesty bitter end.

I enjoyed this one very much, the citrus flavors pop nicely and it is quite refreshing. Definitely a beer I will buy again-though of course, it won’t be quite the same.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
