While I have enjoyed Corsendonk Monk's Brown Ale in the past,
for one reason or another I have never had the pleasure of tasting the
Monk's Pale Ale. That changed today, as I picked up a 25oz. bottle in my
travels. For some reason, the beer rang up at $2.99 instead of the posted
$6.75. The clerk informed me that it must have been reduced for clearance
(this being inventory time), so I grabbed another six bottles posthaste.
Upon arriving home, I lightly chilled a bottle. When I popped the cork a few
hours later, I was not disappointed. Rich, yeasty, very Belgian in
character. The bottle describes the beer as a tripel, and it does seem to be
in that frame: fruity, alcoholic, golden in color. This beer is a bit more
dry than other tripels I have sampled, but otherwise very similar. An
utterly fantastic brew!.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
