Coniston
Brewing Co., somewhere in Great Britain (Cumbria?), label is not specific.
1998 Supreme Champion Beer of Britain. Bottle conditioned. Smooth malty nose, deep amber color, medium carbonation. Good biscuity malt character to this one, noticeable diacetyl very apparent, earthy-mushroom yeast character strongly reminiscent of Ringwood. Good balancing bitterness in the finish. Reminds me quite a bit of Geary's Pale Ale though a bit milder and less hoppy, a very drinkable beer.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
