Coffee Cup Double Coffee Stout

Welcome, friends, to my first ever beer review of a brew from Common Roots Brewing company of South Glens Falls, New York. Something tells me I have had a collab beer from another brewery in partnership with Common Roots, but if I have, I cannot find record of it. Anyway, the beer I am here to talk about is Coffee Cup Double Coffee Stout, apropos indeed since in addition to brewing beer, Common Roots also roasts coffee.

Common Roots beers are not sold in Georgia, so I got my can from-you guessed it-Half Time Beverage. Here’s what the brewery says about this beer on their website:

Double Coffee Stout infused with Common Roots Coffee Company’s house roasted blend. Specialty malts impart rich flavors of chocolate and caramel.

Common Roots Coffee Cup Double Coffee Stout has an alcohol content of 9% by volume and I paid $6.99 for a single pint can from Half Time. That’s the only pricing information that I have. My can had no freshness dating.

Common Roots Coffee Cup Double Coffee Stout pours to a jet black color with a thick creamy tan head and a nose of coffee grinds fresh from the pot, just after brewing. Taking a sip, the beer is medium to full in body and full of deep dark roasty goodness. The coffee grinds are back! They are intense and roasty and remind you this is not just a coffee stout, but a double one. A hint of caramel pokes through, and then at the last all that delightful roastiness explodes to dry the beer out nicely. I got more caramel notes as the beer warmed, and I loved that.

A truly delicious beer indeed, Common Roots Coffee Cup Double Coffee Stout  tasted a lot like a coffee pot blew up in my mouth. You know I’d be all over this one again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
