Has it really been ten years since
Catamount began brewing their wonderful beers? Evidently so. To commemorate,
the folks from White River Junction Vermont have released a "Special Edition
IPA" as a kind of thanks to their loyal customers. This is a special brew
indeed. The ale has a tempting malt/hop nose, a light head and a soft amber
hue. Malt is readily apparent in the palate, along with a good dash of
fruity yeast character. The hops take over in the finish and linger with an
appropriate burst of bitterness. Reminds me of the Catamount Christmas Ale
of years gone by, when that brew was a bit more fruity than it is today. An
excellent beer, and an excellent IPA.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
