The brewery is located in the Golden Triangle of Maine brewing, in an
industrial park across the street from Allagash Brewing and a stone’s throw
from D.L. Geary’s.
Casco Bay Pilsner pours to a deep golden color into my fluted (what else)
Casco Bay Pilsner glass. Head formation is light, the nose hints at hops.
The palate has a wonderfully crisp malty character, which is biscuity and
slightly toasty. The bottle I’m drinking is very fresh, and this is a beer
that needs to be drunk very fresh to be fully enjoyed. It’s like sipping a
glass of beer at the brewpub. A firm bitterness slowly emerges into the
finish, grassy, slightly minty, and giving the beer a German Pilsner tang
with Hallertaus and Tettnangs that lingers but doesn’t overpower.
I like hoppy beers with spicy foods. This went well tonight with baked
chicken breast smothered in a habanera sauce with black beans and roasted
corn that I made myself.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
