This weekend, my wife and I decided to take a trip to Cape Cod, and since Hyannis is the home of the Cape's sole brewpub, we made it our destination. The atmosphere is pleasant with an expected nautical theme, and as it was a Monday evening I had no trouble finding a seat at the bar and getting a sampler. The second beer I had here, Cape Cod Cranberry Ale, was a bit more flavorful, if only in the cranberry aspect. Here again there was no hop finish, but I wouldn't expect that in a fruit beer anyway. I could see myself enjoying a pint or two of this brew on a hot summer day.
Any of the beers here are available for take-out in growlers at $10 each, but
must be ordered a day in advance. I brought home two of the Nantucket Red
myself. Besides their own beers, the pub carries other New England drafts,
which at my visit were Otter Creek Copper Ale, Ipswich Ale, Seadog Blonde
Ale, and Shipyard's Old Thumper. All in all, if you're on the Cape, I'd
say this pub is worth a stop.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
