Now Youse Can't Leave Double IPA
Review Date 7/8/2024 By John Staradumsky
True story here. I was super excited about drinking my can of Now Youse Can’t Leave Double India Pale Ale from The Bronx Brewery, so much so that I walked around the house all day saying “Now youse can’t leave!”. Yes, I’m weird like that. My wife was like, what the hell are you talking about? I tried to explain to her, but mostly just made it clear she couldn’t leave.
If you don’t already know, Now Youse Can’t Leave is a a Bronx ale, named taken from the movie A Bronx Tale. In the film, there is a famous scene where a biker gang comes into a mob-owned bar. The bartender says they are not dressed appropriately and cannot be served, which causes an uproar, The bar owner and local boss (Chazz Palminteri) hears their pleas that they just want a few beers and they will be on their way. He accedes, at which point of course they spray beer all over the bartender. The boss walks to the front door, locks it, and says calmly “Now youse can’t leave.”
You will need to watch the movie to see what comes next. Trust me when I say you will enjoy it.
The Bronx Brewery says:
Now Youse Can’t Leave,” our captivating Double IPA that demands your attention and refuses to be ignored. This is not your ordinary brew; it’s an experience that will leave a lasting impression! Prepare to be greeted by a symphony of big hop and fruit aromas that envelop your senses, inviting you into a world of alluring flavors. This double IPA is a masterful balance of massive fruit hop flavor and solid malt character, creating a harmonious marriage that will keep you coming back for more.
Ingredients from the website:
Grain Bill: 2 Row, Pilsner Malt, Flaked Oats
Hop Bill: Amarillo, Cascade, Blanc, Sultana
Now Youse Can’t Leave Double India Pale Ale has an alcohol content of 10.1% by volume and I paid $6.49 for my pint can from Half Time. Total Wine sells it for $14.99 a 4-pack. My can had no freshness dating.
The Bronx Brewery Now Youse Can’t Leave Double India Pale Ale pours to a hazy orange color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of dank and citrusy hops. Taking a sip, the beer is medium to full in body, more than I get in the style these days. It’s firm with caramel malt, citrusy with candied orange peel, juicy tangerine and a hint of grapefruit, and underlined with dank vegetal notes. It finishes dank and balancing bitter and citrusy rindy and delicious.
Definitely a rebuy in my book, it closes the door on all other DIPAs.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
