Well what do you know? Blue Pants Brewing Company is now selling its beer in Georgia. That makes sense, you see, because the brewery is located in neighboring Alabama. I’ve tried their beers before, purchased in another neighboring state, Tennessee, and been impressed. So far, I’ve only seen their beers in Georgia on tap at Taco Mac, but I am, again, enjoying them.
Tonight I’m enjoying Blue Pants Peanut Butter Pinstripe Stout, a variant on their famous Pinstripe Stout. Blue Pants does not have any listing for this beer on their website, but it is available canned as well as kegged. Blue Pants says about the base beer, Pinstripe Stout:
Pinstripe Stout is a roasty, chocolate, coffee stout that is big and rich. Although it’s our winter seasonal, it’s designed for the stout lover to drink all year. Full of specialty malts and pitch black, this beer makes it’s case as a stand alone dessert. Look to enjoy this wonderful beer as the weather gets cold.
Ingredients, from the website:
Malt: 2-Row Brewers, Caramel 80L, Caramel 120L, Munich Malt, Chocolate Malt, Roasted Barley
Hops: Magnum, Willamette
Blue Pants Peanut Butter Pinstripe Stout has an alcohol content of 8% by volume with 47 IBUs. I paid $7.25 for an 11-ounce draft and the beer sells for $12.99 a four-pack in cans.
My glass of Blue Pants Peanut Butter Pinstripe Stout arrived jet-black in color with a moderate sized creamy head of foam and a nose is full of peanuty Reese’s cup aroma, Taking a sip, the body is full and smooth with chocolate and peanut flavors, like a Mary Jane Candy. The nitro pour adds smoothness that works with the peanut to suggest creamy peanut butter, but there are bold nutty notes that suggest whole peanuts and make you wonder if you got a chunky bar by mistake.
Delicious! This one is pricey to eb sure, and a half star off for that, but I’ll admit that it ranks right up there with the bets of the peanut butter beers that I’ve enjoyed.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
