Blowing Rock Kölsch

Here’s another fine beer I picked up from the Blowing Rock Brewing Company of Blowing Rock, North Carolina: Blowing Rock Kölsch. It’s August as I enjoyed this and tell you about it, and this is indeed a great time of year to enjoy a refreshing Kölsch.

Here’s what the brewery says:

Our Kölsch-style ale puts a North Carolinian twist on a classic European recipe. Traditional Pilsner malts combined with Aramis and Mistral hops elicit a unique clean, crisp flavor. Subtle, refreshing citrus aromas and a lager-like finish perfect this brew for any occasion.

Blowing Rock Kölsch has an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume with 25 IBUs. It was running $11.99 a six-pack at Ingles in Murphy, North Carolina when I bought my single in a mix-your-own-six sampler there. It was stamped CANNED ON 04/11/24.

Blowing Rock Kölsch pours to a pale blonde color with a moderate head of spritzy foam and a nose of soft crisp malt. Taking a sip, the beer is fresh bready and crisp biscuity malty up front though I get more white bread with the crusts cut off than I do the biscuit malt. There’s a gentle fruitiness and a balanced hop finish at the last.

Not overly complex but delicious and refreshing in its simplicity. I would certainly drink it again.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
