Better life choices? We all could make them, right? The Atwater brewery of Detroit, Michigan seems to think so. Take their classic American IPA, Atwater Better Life Choices. If you ask me, I think Atwater could have made  a better life choice naming the beer. Considering how hoppy it is, I would have named it Atwater Bitter Life Choices. Yes, we all make bitter life choices, too.

Atwater beers are fairly new to Georgia, and I have enjoyed them. For the month of July, 2017 Atwater is the featured beer of the month at Taco Mac locations in Georgia, and every Thursday night you’ll get a free logo glass with purchase beginning at 5PM, and while supplies last.

Atwater Better Life Choices American IPA has an alcohol content of 6.5% by volume with 85 IBUs. It is a year-round offering. I paid $5.75 for 23 ounces at Taco Mac (they forgot to give me a Chancellor mug so brought me the rest in a nooner in the photo). It runs $9.99 a six-pack here in bottles.

My mug of Atwater Better Life Choices American IPA arrived a bright orange amber color with a thick fluffy head and solid grapefruit zest in the nose. Taking a sip, there’s a medium caramel malty body, vibrant citrusy grapefruit and piney resin, and more long dry resin in the very bitter finish.

I really enjoyed my mug of Atwater Better Life Choices American IPA. This is a really tasty classic American IPA with some malt backbone and citrus and resin, just as I like them. It paired wonderfully with an order of hot wings, extra crispy and sauce on the side. I just love spicy wings and bitter IPAs after all.

It’s a beer I’ll be after again, for sure.
