Get Off My Lawn IPA
Review Date 1/10/2020 By John Staradumsky
I said, “Hey! Hey! You! You! Get offa my lawn! Hey! Hey! You! You! Get offa my lawn!” Apologies to the Rolling Stones; I got a little carried away there. But that’s what popped in my head when I saw Anderby Brewing’s Get Off My Lawn IPA on the draft menu at my local Taco Mac. I got a little excited, too, because of the way they describe it on their website:
Tired of super hazy, heavily fruited or lactose laden IPAs? Then Get Off My Lawn is for you! This clean IPA is a throwback to the classic style that helped launch the craft beer revolution.
I mean, who isn’t tired of hazy, lactosey, or fruit loopy IPAs? Classic American IPA! That’s what I want! Malt and piney-resiny hops, with some grapefruit citrus thrown in for good measure. Anderby seems to be giving me what I want! Yay!
Anderby Brewing’s Get Off My Lawn IPA has an alcohol content of 7.1% by colume with 62 IBUs. I paid $7.87 for a 23-ounce mug at Taco Mac. This is the first beer I’ve had from this brewery.
My mug of Anderby Brewing Get Off My Lawn IPA arrived a hazy orange amber in color and…I sniffed awaiting those wondrous classic American IPA notes and...nothing! Wait what? There really was not much going on in the nose at all.
OK, a sip, and I did get a lot more malt than today’s IPAs pack with the caramel notes I was hoping to find. Good on that. There is citrus here, lemony to my taste with a little grapefruit rind. I’d like more of the latter. The beer has a little piney resin, too, more so as it warms. I would like more of that, too.
Anderby Brewing’s Get Off My Lawn IPA is interesting, sure, and I’m glad I ordered it, but at seven and 87 it ain’t cheap. Not quite a classic American IPA, though it’s on the road to that, but still better than a namby pamby fruit loopy IPA.
I’ll surely try it again to see how future batches turn out.
Glad I tried it? T
Would I rebuy it??
