Beer by the numbers! That’s what I’m talking about. Specifically, breweries with a name that starts with a number. There are lots of them out there, to be sure, but here are the ones for which I have reviewed at least one beer here at Guruofbrew.com:

3 Stars

4 Noses

5 Seasons

7 Clans

10 Barrel

21st Amendment

32 North

Ah but Bruguru, you guru of brew you, what about Two Roads? Two is a word, you see, so they do not qualify. I’ll tell you who does, though, 6 Bridges brewery of John’s Creek and Milton, Georgia. And as I sip their excellent Feierabend Marzen-Style Lager, I’m glad to be able to add them.

Feierabend is literally German for “celebration night”, but really means quitting time. Although Sierra Nevada might add they have a Celebration of their own, this is in German, so calm down out there in Chico.

6 Bridges says:

Pronounced Fei-Ya-Ab-End. Meaning when work ends, and leisure begins! A delicious German-style Lager made true to style with Munich, Vienna, and Pilsner malts, German Magnum hops, and yeast that hails from Aying, Bavaria!

Actually, there should be an “r” at the end of “Ya” in the pronunciation suggestion (the Germans do not believe in silent letters), but hey, close enough.

6 Bridges Feirabend Marzen-Style Lager has an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume and I paid $12.99 for a six-pack at Total Wine. This fall, I think I will head straight to Crabapple (part of Milton) and pick it up right at the brewery.

6 Bridges Feierabend Marzen-Style Lager pours to a beautiful chestnut color with a thick creamy tan head and a remarkable toasty nutty nose. Taking a sip, the beer has a firm malty body with caramel and burnt treacle, toasted nuts and dark bread crust. I am very impressed with the Munich malt melanoidins here, and the beer finishes gently sweet and malty.

Absolutely delicious, and an excellent domestic example. Delightful on the patio on a warm September evening blaring German folk music on my Bose Bluetooth speakers. Would I buy it again? Of course I would. How would I celebrate the night without it?

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
