What’s your favorite Colorado brewery? Lots of people will list off one of the heavy hitters. Oskar Blues is usually mentioned, maybe New Belgium, Boulder, Breckenridge, and Avery. There are others, of course. While I love these brewers, my two favorites Colorado brewers are a pair of small ones my good buddy Dale Roberts introduced me too: Grimm Brothers and Odd13.
It’s the Odd13 Ubernoob I’m here to talk about today. This is a variation on their Noob IPA, and is a hazy and juicy “New England Style IPA”.
From the can label:
Ubernoob is a bigger, hoppier version of noob, our year-round pale ale. An irresponsible dry hopping regimen with Mosaic and El Dorado creates an incredibly juicy beer.
Haze is expected. Drink fresh.
On their website, they have Noob listed as an IPA, not a pale ale. You decide which it is. Odd 13 Ubernoob has an alcohol content of 7.5% by volume.
Odd 13 Ubernoob pours to a hazy, cloudy orange color with a thick rocky head and a big fruity pineapple citrus and oregano nose. Taking a sip, the beer is firm malty up front with lots and lots of citrus fruit, there are big orange and grapefruit notes with tropical pineapple too. The finish is grassy herbal bitter with a hint of the oregano the nose promised. Very juicy and very drinkable, Ubernoob is one hell of a fine brew. If you like fruit juicy IPAs, as I do, Ubernoob is the beer for you.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
