Hopcelot IPA

Do you like hopsalot? If you do, have I got the perfect beer for you: Hopcelot IPA from Lawson’s Finest liquids of Vermont. I was talking to a friend about Lawson’s the other day and reflected on the fact that I have come to love them more than I do that other New England IPA brewery in Vermont, the Alchemist. That’s because Lawson’s has a big advantage over the Alchemist: you can actually find their beers.

This is not to say that you can buy Lawson’s beers here in Georgia, because you can’t. They are, though, readily available for sale from Half Time Beverag in new York, where I go the can of Hopcelot I am about to tell you about. Heady Topper is great and all, but what is the point of it being great if I can never drink it? I’ll take a Lawson’s Sip of Sunshine over that any day, because I can actually get it most any day.

Whereas Sip of Sunshine is a New England IPA, Hopcelot is more of a tropical fruity West Coast IPA.

From the can label:

Inspired by a dreamy combination of music, hops and beer. Celebrate with us as we revel in the glory of 8 varieties of hops from around the world, brewed to create intricate flavor and delight your senses!

Lawson’s Hopcelot IPA has an alcohol content of 7% by volume and I paid $6.99 for a pint can from Half Time. Total Wine sells it for $17.99 a 4-pack at their Braintree, Massachusetts location. My can is stamped CANNED ON 03/01/24 and I drank it on April 20th.

Lawson’s Hopcelot IPA pours to a hazy golden orange color with a thick fluffy white head and a nose of pineapple amd mango tropical fruit. Taking a sip, the beer is quite juicy indeed, very tropical with pineapple and mango as the nose promised. There’s some citrus grapefruit too but the tropical drives this one. Finishes balanced, not bitter really.

Another tasty IPA from Lawson’s.

Glad I tried it?  T

Would I rebuy it??
