Have you tried Hi-Wire Hi Pitch IPA? If you haven’t, you should. It’s a tasty Mosaic IPA in the modern style. I enjoy it, though I haven’t added a review yet here on bruguru.com. Note to self: fix that. Have you tried Hi-Wire Lo Pitch Juicy IPA? It’s a “New England style” IPA, and I’m here to tell you about that one today. Either way, you’re getting a pitch folks.
New England IPAs are all the rage, and though I think they might eventually go the way of “Session IPAs” (remember them?), everybody has to have one for now I suppose. Hi-Wire Lo Pitch Juicy IPA is a year round offering, available in bottles and soon, Hi-Wire says, in cans.
From the label:
This thirst quenching, easy drinking IPA packs a bright citrus hop punch. Juicy American hops and a light malt bill make Lo-Pitch™ the perfect pairing for sandy shores, mountain tops, or your bestie’s birthday party.
Ingredients, from the website:
HOPS: Loral, Columbus, Equinox, & Simcoe
YEAST: Ale Yeast
Hey! What about the malt??? Malt gets no respect these days, I tell ya. Hi-Wire Lo Pitch Juicy IPA has an alcohol content of 4.9% by volume with 35 IBUs. It runs $9.99 a six-pack in bottles locally.
Hi-Wire Lo Pitch Juicy IPA pours to a whitish yellow color with a moderate fizzy head of foam and a vibrant tropical fruity nose. A thick layer of Brussels lace formed on the sides of my glass and followed the liquid all the way to the bottom. Taking a sip, the beer is a little thin on the malt but explodes with juicy fruit: pineapple, passion fruit, zesty grapefruit peel. It finishes with a balancing but not heavy minty hop bitterness.
Quenching and almost too easy to drink, Hi-Wire Lo Pitch IPA is a perfect beer for the approaching warmer weather. I enjoyed a bottle puttering in my garage on a fine March Sunday afternoon.
And remember, try a new beer today, and drink outside the box.
